Eva's Hook Development
Hi, it is my first time creating a devlog, I'm going to figure out what it looks like and try my best to fuel it accurately !
Sorry if my english could be not so precise sometimes !
I'm going to introduce myself to begin with :
I am Yannick, a 28 years old french relatively new developer that started to learn C++ 1 year ago, and got into Unreal Engine 5 at the beginning of 2024, learning and developing full time .
I started to play video games with my own PC at 3 years old, my father would get me (legally of course ...) hundreds of video games, and I would binge every one of them. I was more or less playing competitively at a decent high level a lot of various video games, from World of Warcraft, to League of Legends, to Apex Legends.
That is why I started to believe I should try to stop playing so much, and try to create games instead with all the knowledge I have as a gamer.
Eva's Hook is my first project, I wanted to make a 2,5D platformer mostly because I felt it was achievable as a new solo developer, and the idea of a moving mechanic with a "Hook" hyped me to try to implement it.
I have been working on Eva's Hook for around 5 months, and I am planning to hopefully release the full version early 2025.
The full version I am working on has 3 maps for the moment, bigger and harder than the demo's ones.
At the moment I'm trying to make visible the demo the best I can, then I am planning to add 1 to 3 more maps to the game, and maybe 1 other mod to begin with.
As a fresh new developer, I inevitably figure out errors I made in the past, and things I could have done differently, that is why the quantity of efforts I will put to add content for the full version of the game will depend on the reviews I will get from the public, because I could use my time building another more stable and more "advanced" video game in the future.
